This afternoon, Sinterklaas arrived in Almelo. Hundreds of children and (grand)parents waited along the quays, their expressions tense, their cheeks flushed, and their bags overflowing with anticipation. The arrival procession brought a parade of happy faces, and just as many gingerbread nuts.
